Halloween Party

Описание работы . Данная методическая разработка предназначена для учителей английского языка средней школы. Этот материал можно использовать для организации внеклассной кружковой работы с детьми 5-7 классов по теме «Праздники». Праздник - игра Хэллоуин проводиться в форме интеллектуальной игры КВН, которая является наиболее удачной формой для проведения такого рода мероприятий. Праздник - игра состоит из двух частей.

Первая часть - это соревнование на лучшее разыгрывание сценки, которая обязательно должна быть страшной историей, как этого требует традиция празднования Хэллоуина. Дети сами или с помощью учителя придумывают эти страшные истории и разыгрывают их на празднике. Вторая часть состоит собственно из игровых конкурсов, таких как: подвижные игры «Вылови яблоко из воды», «Собери скелет», «Сделай мумию» и творческого конкурса на изготовление фонаря из тыквы. На празднике так же проводятся конкурсы на лучшее исполнение стихов и песен по теме Хэллоуин, причем одно стихотворение должно быть обязательно разыграно с соответствующими движениями. Участвуя в празднике, дети в игровой форме глубже усваивают свои знания по предмету английский язык и страноведению, приобретают такие качества, как умение работать в команде, чувства товарищества и взаимопомощи, внимание друг к другу. До праздника каждый ребенок тянет жребий и готовит своими руками подарок выпавшему ему по жеребьевке ученику. Таким образом, никто не уходит с праздника без подарка.

Методическая разработка праздника-игры Хэллоуин

Цели:

Познакомить детей с традициями страны изучаемого языка.

Развивать у детей коммуникативную компетенцию.

Развивать навыки говорения и выступления на публике.

Формировать умение работать в команде.

Воспитывать чувство товарищества и взаимопомощи.

Повысить мотивацию к изучению английского языка.

Оформление класса : окна завешиваются черными шторами, на шторах и по стенам класса развешиваются картинки с символами Хэллоуина (привидения, черные коты, ведьмы, летучие мыши, тыквы, мумии, скелеты, черные шарики.). На доске плакат с названием праздника и газеты команд. Столы расставлены вдоль стен, за ними рассаживаются команды одна напротив другой. В конце класса располагается жюри из старшеклассников.

Ход праздника-игры.

Первый ведущий : We begin our traditional Halloween Party! We have two teams which are going to have a contest tonight. Welcome the team “Bloody Oranges”… and another team is called “Witches”… Now let me introduce our jury…

Второй ведущий: Let us start our Halloween competition. The first contest is Halloween Theatre. The team “Bloody Oranges” has prepared a play which is called “Bloody Oranges”.

“Bloody Oranges”

Pupil 1: Once upon a time there was a family. There were four of them: a mother, a father, a son and a daughter. They were having dinner on the 31-st of October. They had already eaten their dinner but suddenly mother realized that she had forgotten to put oranges on the table.

Mother: Oh, dear! Where are the oranges? I think they are in the cellar. Jane, go to the cellar and bring the oranges.

Pupil 2: Jane goes to the cellar, opens the door and has the feeling that there is somebody in the room, but she does not see anybody. On the shelf she sees the oranges.

Jane: Ah! Here are the oranges!

Pupil 1: But when she wants to take the oranges she hears a strange voice.

Voice

Pupil 2: Jane is frightened and she runs up to the dinning room.

Jane: I could not find the oranges. Ask Max to bring them!

Mother: Max, go to the cellar and bring the oranges, please.

Max: Of course, Mum. Only those silly girls cannot find the oranges!

Pupil 1: He goes downstairs opens the door and on the shelf he sees the oranges. He wants to take them.

Pupil 2 : But he hears the same strange voice.

Voice : Voice: Do not take my bloody oranges! Go away!

Pupil 1: Max is scared too and he runs upstairs out of the cellar.

Max: I have not brought the oranges. Let father go there!

Mother: My darling, will you go to the cellar and bring those oranges, please?

Father: OK

Pupil 1 He goes downstairs opens the door and on the shelf he sees the oranges. He wants to take them. But he hears the same strange voice.

Voice : Do not take my bloody oranges! Go away!

Father: I am not afraid of you! I need these oranges and I will take them!

Pupil 2: Fifteen minutes passed but nobody came back. Mother, Jane and Max went to the cellar together. They opened the door and on the floor they saw their dead father with bloody oranges around him.

Voice: Ha! Ha! Ha!

Второй ведущий: Thank you, “Bloody Oranges”! Your Halloween play was really horrible .And now it is “Witches”’ turn to act out their play which is called “A little witch”

“A little witch”

Prince Henry: I do not want to hurt your feelings, Merlin, but I am tired of wizards. I want to invite a Witch for a change.

Wizard: When do you want to make a change?

Prince Henry: On Halloween, of courses. Could you find me a witch?

Wizard: Certainly, I know a lot of witches

Prince Henry: Great! Get me a Witch today and you can leave. Wait, I will bring you a purse of gold.

Wizard: That is gratitude!

Prince returns with a purse of gold.

King Henry Here you are, Merlin, your gold. But do not forget -before you go find me a witch

Wizard: I have already found you a witch, Sire. You should only cast a magic spell.

King Henry: Oh! I love magic spells!

Wizard: Repeat after me three times:

Abracadabra bow-wow

Tadpoles and lizards

Instead of wizards

Wizard goes out. A very big witch appears.

A big witch; Hello! I am your court witch.

Prince Henry: Oh! You are too big!

A big witch : You do not like big witches, do you? Then say a spell again.

Prince Henry:

I want a smaller one!

A middle size witch appears.

A middle size witch: Do you call me? I am at your service!

Prince Henry: But you are not much smaller than the first one.

A little witch: Will I do? Now it is my turn to cast a spell.

Первый ведущий : Thank you, Witches! Your Halloween play was also horrible and at the same time it was funny. And we continue our party. While the jury is counting the points let us play our favourite game “Bobbing for the apples”. Stand in two lines and when I say “Go!” one by one run to the bowls with water and apples and try to take the apple out of the water. Don’t use your hands! You can only bite the apples. Those who will manage to get the apples out of the water first will be the winners. One, two, three…go!

Well done! The winners are….

Второй ведущий: And now it is time for a poem contest. The more poems about Halloween you have learnt the better for your team. But you should start with an action rhyme about Halloween.

Первый ведущий : It was marvelous! Let us play again! The game is called “Collect a skeleton”. Which team will manage to collect a skeleton quicker? Throw the dice and stick the part of skeleton’s body on the board with the help of magnets. Each skeleton’s bone has a number. A “ 1” is needed to start because number “ 1” is a skeleton’s body. The first team -go! Your time is … It is Witches’ turn now.

Второй ведущий: Another competition is called: “Wrap up like a mummy”. Use toilet paper and wrap one or two members of your team in it. Whose mummies will be better? You have 10 minutes for this task.

Time is up. The jury should decide whose mummy is better.

Первый ведущий : Finally you are to cut out Jack-o-Lanterns out of pumpkins. Don’t forget to cut out a nose and a mouth and eyes. Make Jack-o-Lanterns and light them: put an electric torch into the pumpkin. These Jack-o- Lanterns will save your houses from ghosts tonight. Take the pumpkins. Be careful with knives. Our jury will say whose Jack-o- Lanterns will be more frightening.

Урок-праздник « Halloween »

Цели урока:

· Развитие говорения (умения сообщать, объяснять, рассказывать);

· Развитие письма (умения быстро фиксировать свои высказывания);

· Развитие навыков самостоятельной работы и работы в команде.

Образовательные:

· Приобретение знаний об истории и традициях Великобритании и Америки, связанных с праздником «Halloween»;

· Знакомство с некоторыми литературными произведениями известных британских поэтов.

Воспитательные:

· Воспитывает положительное отношение к культуре народа изучаемого языка;

· Развитие уважения и интереса к иностранной литературе;

Развивающие:

· Развитие творческих способностей учащихся;

· Развитие умения общаться, а также таких черт характера как трудолюбие, целеустремленность, активность.

Оснащение:

· Материалы для проведения конкурсов (по 1 экземпляру на каждую команду);

· Украшение кабинета.

Перед уроком кабинет английского языка был оформлен плакатами и рисунками по тематике праздника, были расставлены столы для игры по командам.

1. Организационный этап.

Учащиеся садятся за парты по командам (2 команды по 6 человек). Каждая команда выбирает себе карточку с наименованием команды “Witches” или “Ghosts”.

Каждая команда получает одинаковые филлворды, слова, зашифрованные в филлворде – это лексика по теме “Halloween”. Учащиеся ищут и отмечают слова в филлворде в течении 3 минут. За каждое найденное слово команда получает по 1 баллу.

3. Переставь буквы

Каждая команда получает одинаковые листы со словами, в которых перепутаны буквы (приложение 2), нужно расставить буквы по местам. За каждое правильно написанное слово команда получает 1 балл.

Команды слушают рассказ про Хеллоуин, а затем отвечают на вопросы учителя. За каждый правильный ответ команда получает 1 балл.

On October 31 st , dozens of children dressed in costumes knock on their neighbors’ doors and yell “Trick or Treat” when the door opens. November 1 st is a religious holiday known as All Saints’ Day (or formerly, All Hallows’ Day). The day before the holy day is known as All Hallows’ Eve. The word “Halloween” comes from that form.

October 31 st was, the eve of the Celtic new year. The Celts were the ancestors or the present-day Irish, Welsh, and Scottish people. On this day, ghosts walked and mingled, with the living, or so the Celts thought. The townspeople baked food all that day, and when night fell, they dressed up and tried to resemble the souls of the dead.

Much later, Halloween became a celebration mostly for children. “Ghosts” went from door to door asking for treats, or else a trick would be played on the owners of the house.

All Halloween parties children play traditional games. One of the most popular is called pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey. Another game is bobbing for apples.

Halloween originated as a celebration connected with evil spirits. Witches flying on broomsticks with black cats, ghosts, goblins and skeletons have all evolved as symbols of Halloween. They are popular trick-or-treat costumes, and decorations of greeting cards and windows. Black and orange are traditional Halloween colors.

Pumpkins are also a symbol of Halloween. Carving pumpkins into jack-o’-lanterns is a Halloween custom also dating back to Ireland. A legend grew about a man named Jack who was so stingy that he was not allowed into heaven when he died. His spirit was doomed to wander around the countryside, holding a lantern to light his way. The Irish people carved scary faces put on turnips represented “Jack of the Lantern”, or Jack-o’-lantern. When the Irish brought their customs to the United States, they carved faces of pumpkins because in the autumn, they were more plentiful than turnips.

На плакате нарисован ослик без хвоста, необходимо с завязанными глазами прицепить ему хвост на место. Участвуют по 1 представителю от команды. 1 балл получает команда, участник которой прицепил хвост правильнее.

6. Заключительный этап.

Подведение результатов. Подсчет баллов, определение команды победительницы. Выставление оценок. В конце урока обе команды поют песню.

Нетрадиционный урок английского языка: "Halloween"

Нетрадиционные уроки, наряду с обязательным курсом, создают условия для более полного осуществления практической, воспитательной, образовательной, развивающей целей обучения. Нетрадиционные уроки являются одним из средств повышения мотивации, которая в свою очередь – важное условие при изучении иностранного языка. Интерес повышает желание учить и познавать, а значит, обеспечивает прочность знаний.

Нетрадиционные уроки помогают отразить такую отрасль языкознания, как социолингвистику, изучающую соотношение языка и культуры, языка и общества. Язык является хранителем национальной культуры народа, который на нем говорит. Поэтому на уроках иностранного языка очень важно прививать детям желание знать культуру и традиции носителей изучаемого языка, т.к. язык выполняет две функции: коммуникативную и культуроносную.

В учебнике Кузовлева А. П. 5 класс особое внимание автор уделил такому празднику, как Хэллоуин. На основании чего я разработала нетрадиционный урок, который позволяет в увлекательной форме познакомить учащихся с этим праздником. Для более полного усвоения пятиклассниками материала рекомендую провести внеклассное мероприятие на тему Хэллоуин, приготовленное учащимися старших классов.

Оформление и оборудование:

Рисунки с изображением луны, летучей мыши, ведьм, приведений, тыквы; свечи, шторы на окнах; стулья; музыкальное оформление.

Нетрадиционный урок “ Halloween ”

Цель: познакомить учащихся с праздником”Хэллоуин”.

Задачи:

Познавательная : познакомить учащихся с традициями и культурой страны изучаемого языка на основе праздника”Хэллоуин”.

Развивающая: развивать интерес учащихся к изучению традиций страны изучаемого языка.

Воспитательная: прививать интерес к изучению английского языка.

Ход урока

I. Организационное начало урока:

Good morning, children. Sit down, please. Today we will have an unusual esson. Today we will have known about Halloween.

(Урок начинается с того, что окна завешаны и горят свечи, играет музыка).

II. Новая тема:

Учитель:

Как я вам уже сказала, сегодня мы с вами узнаем о празднике”Хэллоуин”.

Этот праздник сопровождается весельем и древними обрядами. В ночь на Хэллоуин люди зажигают фонари, чтобы отогнать злых духов. Дети вырезают на тыквах лица и вставляют внутрь свечи. Такую тыкву называют “Джек – фонарщик”.

Ребята, а вы знаете, откуда это название. Нет? Сейчас я вам расскажу: Это название заимствовано из ирландской истории. Жил мужчина по имени Джек. Он был настолько скуп, что даже после смерти, пошел не на небеса, а к дьяволу. Дьявол бросил ему кусок горящего угля со словами: “Положи его в репу, которую ты ешь. Это будет твоим фонарем”. Вот так и появилось это название.

А вы знаете, что еще есть такой обычай: люди танцуют вокруг костра, а затем бегут с криками “Уходи прочь, дьявол”. Так же семьи шествуют на поля с зажженными факелами. Это охраняет поля от ведьм и других духов. Каждая семья старается зажечь на поле самый большой костер. Иногда члены семьи надевают жуткие маски.

Хэллоуин отмечают во всех странах, и каждая страна имеет свою отличительную черту в праздновании этого праздника. Например, в Уэльсе этот праздник не такой уж и веселый, т.к. он напоминает о смерти. Каждый человек получает белый камень и кидает в огонь. Потом все ходят вокруг костра и молятся. Если кто-то не найдет в костре свой камень, значит, по поверью, он скоро умрет. По домам в этот праздник ходят бедные люди. Они поют песни и просят милостыню. А вот во Франции по улицам ходят звонари и перед полночью сообщают о том, что всем нужно зайти в дом, ведь вокруг блуждают духи. А в Мексике пекут хлеб в форме черепов. Дети покупают игрушки: склепы, черепа и гробы. Едят сладости в форме похоронных венков. В Америке дети надевают маски и разноцветные костюмы. Ходят по домам с криками “Шутка или угощение?” Люди украшают дома в традиционные хэллоуинские цвета: оранжевый и черный.

А знаете, как раньше праздновался Хэллоуин в России? Этот праздник назывался

“Духов день” и праздновали его в первый понедельник после Троицы. Этот праздник был тоже маскарадом: один наряжался козлом, другой лошадью, третий изображал свинью. Все это ряженое шествие сопровождалось музыкой гармонистов, балалаечников. Шли на поле, делали несколько выстрелов из ружья, затем бросали лошадиную голову в яму до будущего года - это было прощание с весной.

Итак, вот я рассказала вам об этом замечательном празднике. Во всех станах мира этот праздник сопровождается своими обрядами.

Nick: People eat cucumbers, fruits, juices, bubble gum, plums, nuts, sugar and puddings.

Коллеги! Как обещала, делюсь с вами своим сценарием урока про Halloween для дошкольников. Пользуюсь этим планом не один год, поэтому не стала переписывать и оставила как было на английском.

Vocabulary to learn : ghost, pumpkin, witch, mummy, bat, black cat.

Start by dividing the kids into two (or more) teams. The competitive atmosphere makes the whole event funnier.

Make some kind of introduction. Ask the students what they know about this holiday (in their L1).

Tell them about the main symbol of the Holiday – pumpkin. Put the flashcard on the board (you can download flashcards ) and make the kids say the word with you. Invite them to dance to the fun action song This is my favorite pumpkin .

Ask the teams to colour the picture of a pumpkin to make a Jack-o-Lantern. (I usually give each team a point for this task.)

Tip: It’s great to prepare a real Jack-o-Lantern beforehand and light it together with the students. You may turn the lights in the classroom off while doing it, but even in the daylight it will impress your little learners for sure.

Tell the children that on Halloween kids usually dress up as fantasy creatures like witches, ghosts and mummies. Put the corresponding flashcards on the board.

You have four flashcards on the board now: pumpkin, ghost, witch and mummy. To help the kids remember them play the disappearing cards game. The kids say the words with you several times. You may ask them to speak in different voices, e.g. whisper like a ghost, say the words angrily like a witch, happily like a pumpkin, etc. Then you continue to repeat the words in chorus but each time you take one card off the board. The kids still have to say all the four words – the missing one too. Proceed to do this until there are no cards left on the board.

Dance to the action song What are you for Halloween?

Picture puzzle game. Give each team a Halloween picture cut into pieces. To make it a bit more challenging (and fun!) you may cut two different pictures and mix the pieces. The team to put the picture(s) back together first are the winners. Then you may ask the students to tell you what is in the picture. (I find it more encouraging to give the winning team two points and the other team one point, instead of giving a point only to the team that was the first.)

Introduce two more vocabulary items — bat and black cat. Put the flashcards on the board and make the kids say them with you.

Play a game with all the six words. Ask the kids to close their eyes, put the flashcards around the classroom. The children open their eyes and you ask them to point to the pictures. E.g. “Where is bat? Point to bat! Ok, now point to cat. Great! Point to pumpkin.” etc.

Actually, there are more Halloween words in this song (owl, monster and spider) but I decided that six words are quite enough for my young learners to remember in one lesson.

Play Slap! The flashcards are on the board. You invite a member of each team to come to the board. You say the word and the first child to slap it gets the point for his/her team. You then take the card off the board and go on to play with two different members of each team.

Play Picture Hunt . Before the lesson stick small pictures with bats, black cats, pumpkins under the desks, teacher’s desk, window-sill etc. (I use small pieces of sticky tape.) The teams run around the class and look for the hidden pictures. Then you ask each team how many items of each picture they have got.

Play Maze race. Give each team a number of easy mazes. (you can download them at activityvillage.com) You set the time/switch on the music and the children have to do as many mazes as they can.

Play Put a Hat on the Witch . It’s Halloween variation of Donkey’s Tail game. Prepare a picture of a witch and several hats with pieces of double sided tape. A child from each team comes out and, blindfolded, tries to stick the hat in the correct place. The winner is the child who sticks the hat closest to the correct spot.

At the end of the lesson each student usually gets a handful of sweets or some small present.

Чтобы урок был максимально интересным для юного ученика, предлагаю превратить обучение в небольшое представление. Проявите фантазию и вместе с малышом соорудите костюм для праздника. Заранее подготовьте кусочек ткани, ножницы, картон и мелкие украшения. Спросите у ребенка: « What costume will you wear on Halloween? Why? » (Какой костюм ты бы хотел надеть на Хэллоуин? Почему?) Выслушав ответ, предоставьте юному таланту все необходимое, и пусть малыш сошьет (смастерит) себе наряд. Поверьте, это настолько занимательно, что от задания получат удовольствие все. Самый легкий способ нарядиться на halloween — делать грим себе и ребенку. После небольших приготовлений смело начинайте урок.

Факты детям про хэллоуин

В нескольких словах объясните малышу, что представляет собой Хеллоуин и, почему этот праздник принято встречать в особых нарядах. Начать рассказ можно так: «Почему мы сегодня так необычно одеты? Да, ты совершенно прав, сегодня – Хэллоуин (Do you know why we put such strange costumes on? Yes, you are right – Today is very funny holiday — Halloween ). Его празднуют в Англии, Европе, США и некоторых других странах в ночь с 31 октября на 1 ноября. (It is celebrated in England, Europe, in The US and some other countries on the night of October 31 ). Давным-давно люди верили, что именно в ночь с 31 октября на 1 ноября потусторонние силы спускаются на Землю. Чтобы, как-то, противостоять злым духам люди придумали свои наряды призраков. Именно так они демонстрировали, что тело уже занято и в него никто не может вселиться».

Затем уместно спросить малыша: «А ты догадываешься, почему духи не злились, что все тела заняты? Правильно, люди специально оставляли для них угощения: сладости, печенье. Так народ пытался умилостивить призраков. А возле домов обязательно стояли тыквы, внутри которых горел огонь. Это был неотъемлемый атрибут праздника и единственный источник света. Как правило, в домах было темно, ведь люди боялись привлекать внимание злых духов».
